This occurs especially on a rainy day (cold weather). Sometimes I switch on the AC to help defrost the front windshield.
Check Engine light comes on. I do a scan and get the code P0139, HO2S Bank 1 Sensor 2 slow response.
Check engine light goes off automatically after about one week but the code remains in the background. CEL comes on again on the next rainy day, when I drive out.
My car is a 2005 Honda Accord.
Any suggestions as to what is causing this?
Thanks in advance.
Has the H02 sensor been replaced? If not, I would replace that, erase the code and do a test drive to see if the check engine light comes back on.
Yes, it was recently replaced prior to my initial post.
I read online about this. 3 possible causes.
a) moisture (or maybe coolant) on sensor tip.
b) blocked sensor vents
c) faulty connection
I decided to first clean the sensor body (vents) with a soft cloth. While at this, I discovered the rubber boot on its cable, (which blocks the hole leading into the vehicle), was out of place. I refixed this and ensured the cable plug was properly connected.
Next, I started the engine and allowed it to idle and warm up. Then, while in Park, gave some good acceleration to burn off any deposits on the sensor tip.
Cleared the code and did some highway driving (about 70 miles). Did another 75 mikes the next day.
That was in the last week in October.
Till today, no codes. No MIL.
People who drive only short distances daily, (no more than 10 miles) may experience this; depending on the weather conditions in your area.
So once in a while, give your car some good firing. Or simply give yourself some drive-around tour.
Just what I learnt, thanks to the many online forums.
Glad you resolved the issues 🙂
I am the founder of an online vapor store named Smoke House Vapez and I am wishing to take on far more ejuice brand names in order to keep up with the competitors. I am thinking about carrying the following ejuice labels which appear to have a pretty good review on CBD Life Mag: Buff Juice SALTS, FULL PULL VAPES, Simple Blends Juice Co. and Treat Factory Eliquid. Any support would be highly appreciated. You can message me on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/Smokehousevapez or just respond to this thread!
